The night of the Luminary Loppet in Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA) is a magical evening and many of those that live around Lake of the Isles (where the event is held) host private parties to warm the hearts and toes of friends that come down to view the thousands of ice lanterns and luminary ice sculptures that ring the lake.
This year, besides donating several luminary sculptures in the Loppet's Enchanted Forest, I was commissioned to build an ICE BAR and "bring the magic inside" with a Finnish Glass Luminary Ice Centerpiece for the food table at one of the parties. I decided to freeze some flowers into the ice of the centerpiece - which turned out fabulously. Can you see the large bubbles in the ice amidst the flowers? (This project will definitely be in my upcoming book!)
The host welcomed friends back from nordic skiing, snowshoeing or walking the path around the lake with shots of delicious schnapps and hot cocoa at the ICE BAR! Then, the guests were lead inside to enjoy some hot soup and appetizers. Such a wonderful party!
These folks were definitely Enjoying the Glow!
