Letters to Wintercraft®

Globe Ice Lanterns

Thank you for giving me something to look forward to next winter. I have never seen ice globes … and am inspired to try them and bring light to my family and friends next year. Perfect beauty. Canada will be inspired, too!

 J.B., Calgary, Alberta, Canada

These are just what i need—would like to learn to make the ice ball for my Fairbanks winter, what a delight. Thank you.

K.W., Fairbanks, AL

I have been admiring your ice lanterns and would love to make some. My mom is 83 and not doing well and I think that she would find these absolutely beautiful….

I would love for her to see these…

W.Z., Shaw, CA

I am a huge admirer of your work, and would love to have some ice lanterns glowing on display when my girlfriend returns home from work on Valentine’s Day.  I don’t think I have the time or skill to make them, though. I am wondering how much it would cost to purchase some of your work. I hope you can help!

T.K., Robbinsdale, MN

I love your ice lanterns and would be interested purchasing some molds and instructions for our local children to make some for a community festival.

K.P., Mansfield, Victoria, Australia.

Using your Ice Lantern kit again this year is the only thing about winter in Wisconsin that I'm looking forward to!

J.M., Wisconsin

How wonderful are your lanterns!!

S.C., Ontario, Canada

Very cool.  My family has done ice lanterns with buckets for years, but I have always been intrigued by other shapes.  I guess I came to the right place.  I love the globes - I’d like to try a bunch of different sizes.

D.F., Idaho

Hi - this looks beautiful - I am planning an event for my daughters high school (small school - about 10 tables and a centerpiece table for food and beverage) their theme for homecoming is fire and ice!

M.P., Escondido, CA

The little snippet about ice lanterns on Kare11 the other day, brought me to your website. I love these!!! Thanks for the inspiration!

S.E., Minneapolis, MN

We’ve made ice lanterns with buckets before, but your’s are much more beautiful and artistic.

M.P. & J.P., Saint Michael, MN

Your site and your lanterns are beautiful! My siblings and I are throwing a surprise party for my parents this holiday season and we think ice lanterns outside will be a fabulous way to set the stage.

P.V., Chicago, IL

The ice lanterns you make are beautiful!

G.P., St. Paul, MN

These are BEAUTIFUL! We are getting a snow storm this weekend and I am going to try these with my kids :)

N.R., Minnesota

I want to make these for our Obama party this week end. It is so COLD it thought the timing might be good!

M.V., Michigan

Hi Jennifer - I am a native Minnesotan who has always loved the look of ice lanterns!  I grew up with neighbors that crafted them and lined their porch!  I was young then and thought it was so magical.

E.A., Minneapolis, MN

I love ice lanterns. I made some a few years ago but didn’t really have a clue what I was doing so they didn’t turn out very well. I’m excited to get my kits to find out how to create lanterns as beautiful as yours.

L.D., Ontario, Canada

I just got engaged and we were thinking of having a winter ceremony next winter in Virginia. I am very interested in learning more about making ice lanterns for the walkway. Please provide me with any information in creating these lanterns myself. They are absolutely beautiful!

K.M., Fredericksburg, VA

Your ice lanterns look marvelous and i would like to try and do it.

C.W., Vancouver, BC

While discussing wedding plans I thought, “Hey, it’s winter. I bet I could make a lantern with ice!” So I started doing some web searching and found your site. It’s beautiful and got us really excited. Especially when I found out you live in Minneapolis because I also live here!

E.O., Minneapolis

As your blog said, it is finally cold and I put my first bag of water outside last night and checked it after work this afternoon.  It turned out AWESOME!!!

G. C., Minneapolis, MN

My sons and I made our first ice lantern today…what a great thing.  We got [The Starter Kit] as a gift from our good friend in St. Paul. Are you kits available anywhere in Denver?

H.M., Denver CO

I am just starting to dabble in ice candles and lanterns….found your web site and your globes look awesome!

J.B., Alberta, Canada

I would like to purchase 3 starter kits for family in the Mpls area (I live in Rhode Island, but fell in love with the ice lanterns at the last 2 Loppet Luminaria events—my cousin and I met you as you were cleaning up after the Loppet events in 2007) Thank you for introducing so many people to this bit of winter magic. We’re having 2 unusually cold nights here and I’ve got my soon-to-be-lanterns freezing outside tonight—can’t wait to share them with friends at a Chanukah party tomorrow night.

S.K., Rhode Island

I’m always looking for fun and creative gifts to give to my co-workers. I thought about making an ice lantern for them, but this looks like something they would all enjoy doing.

C.M., Monticello, MN

I enjoyed your [talk at REI] about the luminaries. I had made them long ago and decided to make some for our Folkways by Candlelight at the Landing (formerly Murphy’s Landing) in Shakopee last Friday night. They drew a lot of attention and questions on how to make them. And they lit up a very dark hallway that had always been a problem for this program.

P.B., Shakopee, MN

I am planning a wedding at the end of February, and am decorating with a very wintry, elegant feel.  I came across your website, and was wowed at your ice globes!  After seeing them, I would like to try make these globes for 8 or so of the centerpieces at the reception, in addition to placing some outside of the church for people walking in before the ceremony.

K.M., Lancaster, PA

Wow Jennifer, I am truly impressed. Although I am an artist in the NKB, I was unaware of your work until just now when a facebook friend posted about it. (That’s what happens when you spend all the time in your studio) It’s Fantastic. Are you open for First Thursdays? I’d love to see more.

M.C., NE Minneapolis, MN

I am getting married 2/20/10 in NE Mpls and would like to line the steps into the reception area with ice lanterns.  I stumbled upon your web site and found it very informative!

R.C., Minneapolis, MN

Great luminaries!!! I love anything with light and different delivery methods. This is a great product.

P.J., Minneapolis, MN

I LOVE your products-I’ve never seen anything like them before!

K.B., Wisconsin

I am planning a March wedding up in Ely, MN.  I’m thinking that ice lanterns would make perfect center pieces for our reception.  I’m ordering some of your supplies!

A.V., Ely

City of Lakes Luminary Loppet 2010

Speechless. And I usually talk a lot. Thank you for the sculpture garden you created for loppet night. I’ve been a long time ice caster, coming up with various molds from bundt pans to buckets to balloons, but I’ve never come close to what you do. My little ice lanterns are like simple words, but your creations are like poetry.

Just wanted you to know what a huge gift you gave to our community.  It is efforts like yours and nights like tonight that keep our spirits alive.

Thank you.

S.L., Minneapolis

Thank you for introducing so many people to this bit of winter magic. We’re having 2 unusually cold nights here and I’ve got my soon-to-be-lanterns freezing outside tonight—can’t wait to share them with friends at a Chanukah party tomorrow night.

S.K., Visiting Minneapolis from Rhode Island

Congratulations! Last night was amazing, magical… the best!

You should be so proud. I already placed my order. I hope this is the beginning of something huge. I believe it will be. I will definately spread the word.

Wishing you the best,

P.S., Minneapolis

Was it you who re-lit your ice sculptures on Lake of the Isles last Saturday night?  If so, thank you!  We were driving by and my son noticed they were lit.  My husband and I returned later that evening for a walk through “the enchanted forest” all by ourselves…without a gazillion skiers!  What a romantic Valentine’s Eve treat!  We love your work and enjoyed talking with you on the night of the loppet.  I believe my son helped you “reconstruct” one of your sculptures.  Hope to see more of your work in the future!

A Grateful Fan - Ruth, Minneapolis

The “ice shard” sculptures were just incredible, and the whole island was just like a ice fairy land!
